Statesider of the Week: Trevor Guthrie

Legislative Issue Manager

Trevor serves as a Legislative Issue Manager working on K-12 and Higher Education. Trevor gained experience in state politics lobbying the California State Legislature for state financial aid reform. He then moved to DC where he worked at a lobbying firm specializing in K-12 and Higher Education at both the state and federal level. Trevor has successfully assisted in securing millions of dollars to help at-risk high school students stay in school, lobbied for student disability and freedom of association rights in higher education and more. Trevor earned his BA in Political Science from California State University, Chico as a proud first-generation college student. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University. In his free time, Trevor enjoys taking walks around the city, playing volleyball in the DC Pride Volleyball League, hanging out with his roommate’s dog, Coco, and spending time with friends.

Where do you call home? I am from California, but I call DC home now.

How long have you worked at Stateside? I have worked at Stateside since August.

Who’s your favorite musician? My favorite musician right now is Olivia Dean. She is like a mix of Adele and Amy Winehouse.

What’s your favorite sport to watch (or play)? My favorite sport to play is volleyball in the DC Pride Volleyball League.

What’s your favorite podcast? My favorite podcast is Pantsuit Politics.

What do you do to unwind? To unwind I like to spend time with friends and work out.

What’s one thing on your bucket list? One thing on my bucket list is to see the northern lights.
