Senior Manager, Energy Policy & Regulatory Services

About the Position

The Senior Manager position will oversee and provide analysis on a wide range of energy, transportation, and related infrastructure issues, including public utility and public service commission monitoring, for the Energy Practice and Regulatory Services Division. This position will also provide strategic support and insight to clients, coordinate internal resources for research and special projects, and help develop advocacy and engagement strategies for existing and new client success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and working knowledge of state regulatory processes on behalf of clients, staff, other internal and external stakeholders on current and emerging policy trends.
  • Communicate succinctly with clients and senior staff.
  • Research, analyze, and report on legislative, regulatory, and political activity on energy and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on energy and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Engage with state regulatory officials and staff and membership organization leadership and staff on behalf of clients, staff, and other external stakeholders.
  • Support client requests and internal and external meeting planning
  • Execute on client strategy development and engagement.
  • Contribute to the development and success of the Energy Practice’s research and informational products, internal staff education program, and marketing materials for new business development.
  • Attend, monitor, and report on designated group activities, meetings, and events on behalf of clients and business development needs; may include out-of-town travel up to 20% of the time.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Juris doctorate or bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government, communications or related field.
  • Analyze and summarize complex legislative and regulatory issues and identify policy trends in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Understand the complexities of state legislative and regulatory processes and frameworks and communicate succinctly and effectively.
  • Manage projects and meet internal and external deadlines while demonstrating professionalism under pressure.
  • Exceptional listener and communicator who can effectively convey information to clients, external stakeholders, and staff.
  • Exceptional analytical research skills, with the ability to understand political, regulatory, and legislative impact of existing and emerging energy, transportation, and infrastructure policies, issues, and trends.
