ARLINGTON, VA, NOVEMBER 1, 2022 - Stateside Associates, the largest state and local government affairs firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of James "Jake" Bookwalter to Senior Vice President.
Bookwalter currently serves as a Vice President leading Stateside's Legislative Information Services division. His deep-rooted knowledge of state policy has supported Stateside's growing portfolio of services, including helping to spearhead the firm's infrastructure funding advisory services, which offers reporting and consulting assistance to track funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and working with several technology clients to create an international policy service offering.
Joining Stateside in 2011, Bookwalter's work has helped shape the firm's State Legislative Monitoring services by modernizing operations and processes and has assisted clients in managing and forecasting policy issues and trends in all 50 states and U.S. territories - all vital to the firm's success.
"Jake has been a pillar in shaping Stateside's legislative practice and is a de facto leader with his unrivaled understanding of legislative processes and policies," said Mark Anderson, Stateside's Co-Chief Executive Officer. "Jake's ability to strategize the implications of political changes in the states has helped us build many great client relationships."
Bookwalter also liaises with clients and lectures about state issues, cultivating relationships and sharing those skills and assets as a leader.
"Jake has been a critical part of our team for the last 11 years, and we are excited to promote him to this role," said Michael Behm, Stateside's Co-Chief Executive Officer. "We simply wouldn't be where we are today without Jake's contributions. I know he will continue to bring focused leadership in his new role in the years ahead."
"Stateside has given me countless opportunities to grow – and help to grow the firm. I look forward to continuing to be a part of Stateside's upward trajectory as a leader in the firm," said Bookwalter.
Before joining Stateside, Bookwalter gained six years of legislative experience working as a legislative aide for the Connecticut General Assembly. He also has political experience through state and national campaign work, including serving as Chief Page for the Republican National Convention in 2008.
